What is We-Link MCP (and what you can do with it)

A plain-language intro to We-Link MCP: what it is, what you can ask Claude or ChatGPT to do on LinkedIn, and how it keeps your account safe.

Written by Gary Egan

We-Link MCP lets you run LinkedIn straight from your AI assistant. Connect your LinkedIn account once, then just ask Claude or ChatGPT to do the work in plain language. No code, no scripts, no switching tabs.

MCP is the plumbing that lets your assistant talk to We-Link. You don't need to understand it. Once it's connected, your assistant gets a set of LinkedIn skills it can use whenever you ask.

What you can ask it to do

Right now you can have your assistant:

  • Search LinkedIn for the right people

  • Pull up someone's profile and summarize it

  • See who you're already connected to

  • Grab a profile's recent posts

  • Like a post

  • Send a connection request, with a note

  • Send a message or reply in a conversation you already have

So instead of clicking around LinkedIn, you say what you want and your assistant does it.

Why it's safe to use

Your LinkedIn account is precious, so We-Link is built to protect it. Everything runs through We-Link's own infrastructure, which paces the activity to look human and stays inside LinkedIn's normal limits. Your assistant only ever acts when you ask it to, from the one account you connected.

What you'll need

Three things from your We-Link dashboard: an API key, an API secret, and your account ID. These live in your assistant's connector settings, never in the chat window. We walk you through finding them in [What you need before you connect].

We-Link MCP is currently in beta, so the list of things you can do is growing.
